Preamble

We are part of the Democratic party with a moderate stance, and we want to help America become healthier, wealthier, and safer. We want to have better control of our budget and spending, and to create more affordable healthcare.  We pledge to fully support our military veterans, to create a more ethical way of documentation for immigrants, and to give women access to safe abortions in all 50 states.  We also commit ourselves to protecting our fellow Americans from gun violence by enhancing gun-buying background checks.  I am running for President because I am currently, and have been a very involved member of our community. I am part of the drama club and am running to be president of the program next year. I am also part of many other fine arts curricula such as the choir, madrigals program, plays, and musicals. Aside from fine arts, I am a part of our district's social media committee and work very closely with Dr. Fuller, Dr. Gorman, and our superintendent, Dr. Winkelman. On the opening day ceremony I was personally chosen by Dr. Winkelman to give a speech to the district. I am also an avid sports fan supporting our Broncos and Fillies teams as well as the sports teams that my three younger siblings play on. As you can see I am a very involved member of this community and I have seen where improvements can be made. My team and I have ideas on how to help our nation (and our community) improve. So, when you go to vote, remember that I am here to help our country become healthier, wealiter, and safer for all Americans, and that is because Carfora cares for a safer future. Thank you so much for your time.

Healthcare

We believe healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial status, while allowing private providers to operate. As Abel-Smith (2023) states, “A well-functioning healthcare system must strike a balance between universal access and the efficiency and innovation driven by private sector involvement.” Our plan is to expand public healthcare funding, offering subsidies for low-income individuals, and regulating private competition can help achieve this balance. Investments in medical infrastructure and technology can further improve care quality across both sectors. A strong public system ensures basic care for all, while private options provide choice and innovation, creating a fair and functional healthcare system.

Budget and Spending

As moderate Democrats, we are committed to responsible fiscal policies that balance economic growth with necessary social investments (Johnson, 2024). We believe in reducing the national deficit over time through smart, targeted investments that boost the economy, improve infrastructure, and enhance social safety nets. If elected we will Invest in infrastructure projects that create jobs and stimulate economic growth, such as clean energy, transportation, and broadband expansion. We will also Ensure fiscal responsibility by reducing unnecessary military spending and closing tax loopholes for corporations and the wealthy. Finally we will implement tax reforms to ensure fair contributions from high-income earners while protecting middle and lower-income households.

Military

It is our belief that America must continue to have the strongest military in the world in order to secure democracy in the 21st century.  We must also ensure that all of our current service members are being supported throughout their selfless journey, and we must continue to support these brave men and women as they transition back into civilian life. As per the Democratic Party’s website, democrats.org, we believe that we must provide veterans access to higher education and the promise of success as a returning civilian. If elected, we will use partisan and bipartisan power to continue to support and pass legislation that helps veterans. We will maintain our support for legislation like the G.I. Bill, especially the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill. This Bill guarantees that all post-9/11 veterans have access to a college education, ensuring that they are able to live secure lives once they return home. We will continue to advocate for bipartisan support for these pieces of legislation and others in order to ensure all of our veterans are taken care of, as they should be.

Immigration

As moderate Democrats, we believe in creating a fair, humane, and efficient immigration system that balances national security with compassion and economic growth (Smith, 2023). We support comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who meet specific criteria, such as passing background checks, paying taxes, and contributing positively to society. We also emphasize securing our borders through advanced technology and improving visa processing to reduce backlogs and improve efficiency. If we are elected we will introduce legislation providing a clear pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants contributing to our economy. We will also Enhance border security through modern technology rather than expanding physical barriers. We will implement a streamlined visa system to reduce waiting times for family-based and employment-based visas.

Abortion

Our party believes in a woman's right to choose what is best for her and her family. No one could understand the hardships these women have to go through to even need to consider abortion as an option and sometimes it's the only thing that can save their life. Right now instead of supporting these women who need our support and help, we are restricting their access and making it harder for them to get the help they need because restricting abortions doesn't stop abortions from happening, they just make them unsafe. Berg and Woods found that “decades of research consistently show that abortion bans and restrictions don’t reduce unintended pregnancy or the demand for abortion, and do not improve women’s health. Instead, they impose significant hurdles to obtaining care, causing stress for people in need of an abortion” (Berg & Woods, 2023). The United States already has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in comparison to other developed countries (Gunja et al., 2024), and banning abortions is not helping this number go down. When we are elected we will establish abortion rights for all women with no time constraint and minimal government involvement, because a woman and her doctors deserve the right to choose what is best for her body. We plan to accomplish this by reimplementing Roe V. Wade in turn making abortion a fundamental right and making government restrictions on this form of care illegal.

Gun Rights and Gun Control

We believe that it is a constitutional right to own and legally use firearms.  We do not seek to take away guns from people who are legally and safely using them.  However, we believe that an increased amount of security regarding the purchasing and usage of guns is necessary in order to ensure the safety of citizens.  If we are elected into office, we will pass legislation requiring increased amounts of background checks, and we will modify existing agencies and laws in order to ensure these background checks are carried out and enforced.  We will do this, as according to a research article from the National Library of Medicine, “denying firearm purchase [based on background checks] to individuals who are legally prohibited from gun ownership leads to reductions in the risk of violence among those denied individuals.”  By ensuring background checks are plentiful and thorough, we will make America safer for all, while still ensuring that citizens have the freedoms promised to them in the constitution.
